In keeping with the spirit of the new year, I figured the best way to knock my resolution of “learn something new” off the list was to tackle it head on and without hesitation. And so, I built my very first computer from top to bottom… on my own*.
*But was helped in spirit by Paul from Newegg.
Over the last couple of months I’d been giving some serious thought to my new computer. My graphics card died around September and I was borrowing another build to tame my gaming addiction. Although previously on the fence about buying versus building, I can wholeheartedly back my decision to build. While buying a name brand desktop would have saved me a good deal of time and labor, the sheer satisfaction of turning on something I wired myself outweighs any doubt I may have initially had.
And onward to the build… with photos along the way! (If you don’t want to go through my long-winded walkthrough, here’s the condensed Picasa album.)
RIP Etta.

A movement is spreading across the internet, and you’ve probably heard of it. When the credits on the 8th movie begin to roll, everyone who has loved Harry Potter over the years will raise their wands in the air and say “Mischief Managed” I politely and hopefully ask that you will post this final send off to Harry Potter in your group Blog. We want to make this a reality, so please tell all of your members to make this happen.
